DAY 7: ADVERSARIES
Paul’s assertion in 1 Corinthians 16:9, “For a great and effective door has opened for me, and there are many adversaries”, rings true of missionary efforts today. His experience in Thessalonica (Acts 17:5), Corinth (Acts 18:12), Ephesus (Acts 19:9; 21-29), etc., bear him out. As the Lord grants open doors to missionaries today, Satan, likewise, raises human adversaries, he himself being the chief adversary (1 Peter 5:8). The human adversaries are usually political and religious leaders. Nevertheless, adversaries are meant to be overcome.
- Pray for missionaries that they will in no way be terrified by their adversaries (Philippians 1:28).
- Like the persistent widow of Luke 18:1-6, cry out to God to avenge missionaries of their adversary.
- Ask God to grant justice for missionaries against their adversaries.
